Why study at the UIMP?

The Menendez Pelayo lnternational University is the most experienced institution in the organization of courses in Spanish language and culture for foreigners (over 70 years). The UlMP’s academic programs, levels and accreditation system  is setup according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

In addition to the UIMP's tradition and international prestige, its syllabus is unique in Spain and the teaching staff is selected from the best Spanish and foreign centers and universities. Students from more than 50 different countries chose the UlMP to learn or improve their Spanish during 2005. The UlMP offers courses in Spanish language & culture throughout the academic year.

The autumn, winter and spring courses offer the added attraction of more personal attention and a more Spanish atmosphere on the campus. The Las Llamas campus is the base for the first post-graduate course offered by the UlMP in collaboration with the lnstituto Cervantes: the Expert and Master's course in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. The Higher Center for Hispanic, Linguistic and Cultural Studies also offers Expert and Master's qualifications in Translation, Interpretation and Technology (TRADINTEC).

During the summer courses, students on the Las Llamas campus have free access to the full program of cultural activities organized by the UlMP both in the Palacio de La Magdalena and in the city of Santander (concerts, films, lectures, drama, meetings with writers, poetry hi readings, etc.).

The Las Llamas Campus offers all the necessary services for its students (accommodation, dining hall and cafeteria, library, sports facilities, computer rooms, study rooms, first aid center, etc.).

In addition to all the above, the city of Santander and the region of Cantabria offer exceptional surroundings with a combination of mountain and coastal scenery, and a rich gastronomic and popular culture.
