Housing
When studying abroad quality housing is the first step toward a meaningful experience, hence our effort to provide EU StudyAbroad students with the best housing options possible.

Homestay with a Spanish Family
One of the best ways to become familiar with the everyday Spanish way of life and to obtain a greater understanding of Spanish culture is to stay with one of our carefully selected host families. These families are considerate and caring and all share the same passion of introducing American students to Spanish culture, tradition, and way of life. Living with a host family is the most available housing option in Santander, Spain.

In most cases there will only be one student per host family. However, depending on availability, two students may be hosted together in the same family. Students may also request to be hosted in a family with another American student but this is not always possible. Each student will have a private bedroom, full access to a bathroom, and limited access to the kitchen. Students may also share one double room. A key will also be made available to the student so he/she may come and go at will, although we do request that the student let the family know of his/her whereabouts. There is no curfew.

Dormitory - Residence Halls
Housing in the university dorms in Santander are reserved two months before the program start date. Places in these halls of residence are limited and are reserved exclusively for students registered at the UIMP. Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Low school attendance may result in the student being expelled from these dorms. The dorms are located on the Las Llamas campus. They are co-ed dorms with single and double rooms. Each room has its bathroom. cleaning service including regular linen change as well as shared laundry, cooking, and phone facilities. Students will be housed with other international students.

MEALS
Students who are housed with Spanish families will receive a meal plan including breakfast and dinner. Students are also obliged to pay their family a total sum of 200 Euro per month for meals provided. Though not compulsory to attend, it is highly recommended that students eat meals with the family, as the experience and value of speaking at listening at the dinner table is priceless in itself. For those students housed in dormitories and apartments, EU StudyAbroad includes a meal plan of 15 meal tickets per month for students. These tickets can be used at university restaurants on campus called Resto U.

A few of these restaurants can also be found in town but most are located on campus. Without a ticket, Resto U serves three-course meals for the price of three dollars. Dormitory students will have to budget funds for additional meals ($ 400/month at least). EU StudyAbroad will make arrangements for students living in dorms to share a meal with a Spanish family two or three times a week at the additional cost of seven dollars per meal. Additionally there are many grocery and food stores located in and around Grenoble. For fresh produce, bread, and cheese, there are the Marché des Halles and the Place aux Herbes outdoor markets in downtown Grenoble. Further details on these markets will be made available onsite by the EU StudyAbroad staff.
