First Days In Grenoble, Settling in.

Bonjour! So I've been in France for two weeks, but it definitely feels like home already! After three days in Paris, I was ready to hop on the train to Grenoble; ready to get out of the crowded city and closer to the mountains. This is the most beautiful city I have ever seen! Grenoble is in the French Alps, surrounded by three mountain ranges (the Vercors, Chartreuse, and Belledonne mountains). These names were some of the first things I was told when I arrived in Grenoble - the French are extremely proud of their mountains! Because of it's great location, there is an insane amount of ski areas within an hours reach...I've gone snowboarding twice already, and have definitely enjoyed the fine scenery (though the snow is nothing compared to the fine west coast powder back home...)!

I live with a French family (actually a couple whose kids no longer live at home) and they are so great, welcoming, and forgiving of my bad French. They also feed me more than I thought possible! I attend French class every day (Monday through Friday) for four hours. I love my French classes - the teachers are great and the students come from all over the world and speak only a little English, if any, so all socializing is done in French as well! I have also found a French church, which I absolutely LOVE! It is really special for me to hear people praying, praising, and reading Scripture in French.

A bientot (goodbye for now)! Stay tuned for more!!!
